The Georgia Workshop on Culture, Power, and History began in 2002 under the direction of Dr. David Smilde (now of Tulane University) and Dr. Thomas Beamish (now of UC Davis). Between 2011 and 2017 Dr. Pablo Lapegna organized the Workshop. Since then various faculty and graduate students have taken over. The 2017-2018 workshop  "Facts and Fictions: Global Perspectives on Policy Knowlege" was organized by Diana Graizbord. This year's workshop "Interpreting Everyday Violence in the Americas" is organized by Jorge Derpic and Maryann Erigha.
