Menna Etheridge | Lab Manager

  • B.S. in Biology, University of Georgia
  • She worked on DNA vaccine development in Trypanosoma cruzi as a Labratory Technician in Dr. Rick Tarleton's lab 
  • She then moved to Irvine, California to work as a Research Associate at Quest Diagnostics, Nichols Institute where she helped develop the Leumeta Cancer Test which assesses the status of Leukemia and Lymphoma in patients using blood plasma instead of bone marrow
  • In Irvine, she then joined the R&D Retinal Disease department at Allergan where her focus was on Age-Related Macular Degeneration
  • She is currently managing the daily operations of the lab 


Edwin Pierre Louis | Graduate Research Assistant

  • B.S. in Biochemistry and Minor in Spanish, University of Florida
  • He worked as a biological scientist at Brammer Bio (Florida Biologix, University of Florida)
  • He received a PREP@UGA stipend, which is a NIH-funded Post-Baccalaureate Training in Infectious Diseases Research
  • He joined the Terns Lab as a Graduate Trainee non-degree student in 2016-2017 and was investigating the mechanisms that underlie invader DNA acquisition by CRISPR-Cas System (Type II-A) in Streptococcus thermophilus
  • Awards
    • Gateway to Graduate School Bridge Program (Summer 2017)
    • Graduate Scholars Leadership, Engagement and Development Program (GS LEAD) sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) (Summer 2017)
  • Edwin is currently investigating secreted parasite proteins and their trafficking machinery between parasite effectors and their host targets
