Graduate Research

Interested in Joining the Devos Lab?

Prospective students interested in conducting graduate studies in the Devos Lab can apply either through the Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics (IPBGG) or through the Department of Plant Biology.  Applications to the Department of Plant Biology need to be completed by the end of the year for admission the following Fall.  While there is no application deadline for the graduate program at IPBGG, students with an excellent undergraduate record and high GRE scores are encouraged to complete their application by the end of December so that they can be considered for a prestigious Presidential Fellowship (PhD program applicants) or for a UGA Graduate School Assistantship (MSc and PhD program applicants).  Typical criteria for admission into the Devos lab are a high level of scientific curiosity, dedication to research (graduate study is not a 9 to 5 job!), a GPA of 3.5 or higher and a minimum GRE score of 310.  Non-native English speaking students also must show proficiency in the English language attested by the results of the TOEFL test.  Students who fulfill these criteria and are interested in joining the Devos lab are encouraged to contact Professor Katrien M. Devos.
