The Georgia Workshop on Culture, Power, and History began in 2002 under the direction of Dr. David Smilde (now of Tulane University). David (initially in collaboration with Dr. Thomas Beamish and later on with several graduate students) was responsible for the organization of the workshop through the spring of 2014. Since then various faculty and graduate students have taken over. The 2016-2017 workshop "“The Intersections of Gender, Race, Ethnicity, Class, and Citizenship” was organized by Pablo Lapegna. This  year's workshop "Facts and Fictions: Global Perspectives on Policy Knowlege" is organized by Diana Graizbord.
