The Georgia Workshop on Culture, Power, and History began in 2002 under the direction of Dr. David Smilde (now of Tulane University). David (initially in collaboration with Dr. Thomas Beamish and later on with several graduate students) was responsible for the organization of the workshop through the spring of 2014. Since then various faculty and graduate students have taken over. The 2017-2018 workshop  "Facts and Fictions: Global Perspectives on Policy Knowlege" was organized by Diana Graizbord. This year's workshop "Interpreting Everyday Violence in the Americas" is organized by Jorge Derpic and Maryann Erigha.
